Professional Training: Auditory Verbal Special Interest Group for Speech and Language Therapists
The Auditory Verbal Special Interest Group (AVSIG) has been set-up in collaboration with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) in order to provide high quality information and training to SLTs in the UK. Auditory Verbal Therapy is an approach used with children with hearing impairment which focuses on developing spoken language through listening. The use of appropriate and up-to-date hearing technology in conjunction with Auditory Verbal Therapy is a very effective way of developing spoken language. Interest is growing within Speech and Language Therapy services nationwide.
The aim of the AVSIG is to raise awareness of the enormous potential children with hearing impairment have to develop spoken language. The AVSIG offers high quality training and an open forum in which to discuss current issues in the field of hearing impairment. Meetings take place three times a year and all SLTs are very welcome.
